August Giveaway

Where has this year gone? Christmas will be here in no time.

August is a hard month for me. My mother passed away 10 years ago this August. I can not believe I have been without my Mommy for 10 years. The void never goes away. <3 

Thankfully, I am so blessed to have AMAZING friends that request time off from all of their individual jobs and responsibilities to spend a weekend with me. And for the last few years, every August, we venture out to AMI for a girls weekend getaway on the anniversary of my Mothers death. What better way to spend the day than with my sisters in friendship?

Anyways.... that's August for me. BUT,  I do have a saweet giveaway that I am super super stoked about. In honor of one of my all time favorite blogs, and her new cooking show that is about to premiere on Food Network, I am giving away one free copy of The Pioneer Woman Cooks.

The Pioneer woman is one of my all time favorite BLOGS. She has almost everything you could ever imagine in a blog: parenting, homeschooling, cooking, gardening, photography, pets, and entertainment. I constantly chuckle when reading her blog thanks to her style of writing, AND she is a published author, not only does she have her cookbook out but she also has a kids book with none other than her quirky basset hound as the star, as well as my favorite, her true story romance novel of how she and MM(her husband) came to be. I highly encourage you to check out her blog, The Pioneer Woman if you haven't already. There is something for everyone. :)

DISCLAIMER: I do not know Ree (the Pioneer Woman) personally, nor does she know I am giving away a copy of her cook book. I was not asked to "advertise" her blog. I am doing so because I truly enjoy her blog, and her books, and would recommend them to anyone.

On another note, the story about HOW I came to own Black Heels to Tractor Wheels and The Pioneer Woman Cooks is quite entertaining. One of my good friends, DaisyJo, knows how much I adore TPW, and knew that I really wanted to get her 1st book, Black Heels to Tractor Wheels. When I mentioned wanting to buy it because it'd be the perfect read for my honeymoon, she told me "forget we had this conversation, but, DO NOT buy that book!" and low and behold, I got it as a gift at my bridal shower in March. It took a lot of will power for me NOT to read it before the honeymoon, but I saved it, and it was the perfect read. WELL, I decided to put the cookbook on my wedding registry at Target, and when I saw that it had been snatched up, I just assumed my friend had bought it for me. After all, who else knew of my blogging addiction? A couple of days later when we finally opened our wonderful wedding gifts, I kept waiting to open that cookbook that I was oh so excited to be receiving. Every time I opened a smaller gift, I was like "this is it! The cookbook!" everyone thought I was crazy, but I kept saying I know it's coming! Then, I get to my friend's gift, and it's a much bigger box, so I said "Oh, she is trying to throw me off" and whaddya know, I open it, and it's the storage canisters that we wanted, not exactly the cookbook but still such an awesome gift. By then I was really confused. Where was the cookbook and WHO got it for me? Did they know of my love of TPW blog?! Finally, as we neared the end of gifts, I open one from one of my coworkers and his wife, and ALAS, THE PIONEER WOMAN COOKS AND a lemon grass candle (that happens to be one of my favorite relaxing scents). HELLO! My coworkers wife is a wonderful cook (she made those amazing smore cookies I blogged about a week or so ago) and she also follows The Pioneer Woman and thought it was cool that we read the same blog so she bought the cook book for me. So yeah, it was quite entertaining as I kept waiting to find "the gift" that I just knew was somewhere in the midst. I was SURE to tell my coworker to THANK his wife for picking out that wonderful wonderful gift for me.
